Ieperfest News Update 20 January 2011

Hey you! We would like to start this update by wishing all of you all the best for the upcoming year! We would like to contribute to this by offering you two awesome festivals! Our first present is, of course, Ieper Hardcore Winterfest 2011!

The line-up we announced last time has been through some changes. SOUL CONTROL cancelled their upcoming Euro tour one day after we had put them on our website, so no SOUL CONTROL on Ieper Winterfest 2011! They are coming over to Europe this summer alongside Germany’s RITUAL though, so keep an eye out for those tourdates and go check them out! LET ME RUN have also decided to postpone their European tour. They are also definitely coming back later this year! To compensate this loss, we have added ANTI ICON (BE) to the line-up! These promising youngsters from Gent are about to release their debut EP called “Contrast”! Come early, as they will be opening the festival, and check them out!

If no other bands cancel their presence, this is the definite line-up! You can check the correct order of the bands on the brand new flyer we have just put online. A detailed schedule will be put online soon!

Pre-sale has been running for about a month now, and it looks like lots of people are planning on attending the fest, so move yourself to the nearest pre-sale outlet (all FNAC and FREE RECORD SHOP stores, a selection of local stores to be put online soon) or simply buy your tickets online by clicking the “tickets” tab at the top of this page!

Just like last year, you’ll be able to taste delicious vegan food prepared by the already infamous FERM & FAMEUS crew! Fingerlicking good! Nom nom nom!

As always, our motto remains “Hardcore, more than just music!”. An interesting MTM room will be set up in the venue, so be sure to go take a look at that! A detailed MTM-program will be written on a blackboard at the festival!

Meanwhile, the first bands for this year’s summer edition have already been booked. We are just waiting for a few more confirmations to unleash a first list of names onto the masses! It’s gonna be legen...wait for it...dary!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest News Update 27 October 2010

Woooow, nearly two and a half months have passed since Ieperfest 2010. We took our time to recover from what was probably the dirtiest clean-up EVER, but now we are back in full force! We would like to start by thanking each and every one of you that made Ieperfest 2010 one of the most memorable editions ever! Every crew member, band member, photographer, journalist and, first and foremost, visitor that was present is valuable to us, and they all made Ieperfest 2010 a record breaking edition in every way possible! Never before did we have that many visitors on the festival, never before have we had this much press-coverage (newspapers and even television!), never before... The list is endless!

You can relive the festival by visiting one of the several websites that did some coverage on Ieperfest 2010: dewereldmorgen.be (official Ieperfest press partner), metalrage.com (NL) , allschools.de (GER), noise-web.com (FR), metalkrant.net (NL), kindamuzik.net (NL), roarezine.com (NL), RMP.org (BE), coreandco.fr (FR), stageload.de (GER), stampmedia.be (BE) and cuttingedge.be (BE)! Also have a look at this YouTube movie made by official Ieperfest camera handler Frederik Van Zandycke! These images send shivers down our spine very fucking time!

As most of you know, we always strive to keep our impact on Mother Nature as small as possible when we organise this festival. We completely realize that setting up an event like this always leaves its mark on nature, but by investing time AND money into the matter, we can all contribute to making this mark considerably smaller! We are pleased to announce that our, and also your, efforts have been rewarded! Ieperfest has won the “Groen Event Award 2010” and is now officially the “greenest” event in Flanders for one whole year! The price was awarded by OVAM and minister Joke Schauvlieghe and consists of a 2.000 Euro reward for our efforts, and the use of a logo for the duration of one year! We could not stress enough that this would not have been possible without your participation as visitors, so thanks a lot!

As we had already announced earlier, we are setting up a third edition of Ieper Winterfest in 2011! We have some exciting news considering that matter, so take note: Ieper Winterfest 2011, Saturday February 26th 2011 at Zaal Fenix, Ieper. That day we’ll have the following bands mounting the stage and giving everything they have: CARPATHIAN (AUS), DEFEATER (USA), LAST HOPE (BUL), THE SETUP (BE) and SHAPED BY FATE (UK). We are proud of these first names, and hope to announce some more in the upcoming weeks! Ticket prices are the same as on the previous Winterfest editions: pre-sale tickets cost 14 Euro, day-of-show tickets will be 18 Euro. Ticket outlets will be announced as soon as possible!

Last but not least, we would like you to take note that Ieper Hardcore Fest 2011 (Summer edition that is), will take place on Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August 2011! There are already some bands in the pipeline, so we hope we can announce part of the bill nice and early already just like last year!

We will keep you posted on any progress regarding Ieperfest (Winter and Summer) regularly, so keep an eye out for news updates!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest News Update 10 August 2010

Ooooh my god, only 3 days separate us from the start of Europe’s biggest DIY underground music festival so needless to say these are busy times for us at Ieperfest HQ! Still we gladly take the time to inform you properly about what is going on over here!

First of all, we regret to announce two cancellations: THE FREEZE have postponed their European tour and will now be coming from September 1st until September 25th! Also, DEAD SWANS are forced to cancel their presence at Ieperfest 2010 because their drummer left the band, and they were unable to find a replacement on such short notice. We have searched and found an adequate replacements for both THE FREEZE and DEAD SWANS though, so still 64 bands playing next weekend! Belgian three-piece KINGDOM will take the stage on Friday August 13th, replacing THE FREEZE, for what will be the official release show of their latest EP “Hemeltraan”! Go check them out! PURIFICATION will be moving up the schedule, and will now hit the stage at around 16h40! This is a change we needed to make because PURIFICATION couldn’t make their original stage time because of flight times. ANTAGONIST AD from New Zealand will be replacing DEAD SWANS on Sunday. They are on tour with 50 LIONS and GRAVEMAKER. Two New Zealandic bands on Ieperfest 2010, wooooow!

The camping site will be opened around 14pm Thursday afternoon! You’ll have to pick up your camping bracelet at the FESTIVAL entrance before being able to access the camping. Remember: keep the camping clean, don’t throw your shit around, BIN IT! And leave all glass packaging at home as it is not allowed on Ieperfest!

MTM-stage program is complete! Click the “MTM” tab for more information! It turned out to be a varied program once again!

Pre-sale has reached the speed of light the last few days so we expect a lot more people than last year. This is more than positive of course, but still we’d like to make a warm appeal to everyone’s common sense. We tend to notice a certain relation between the amount of people and the grade of respect on the festival: the more people present, the less respect for each other and for the environment/festival rules. We kindly ask you to try and make a difference this year!

For the record: Fnac and all independent stores will be selling pre-sale tickets until Sunday August 15th. Free Record Shop and online pre-sale stops on Thursday August 12th around 8pm! So if you are planning on buying your tickets via FRS or online, don’t wait until it’s too late!

Oh, have a look at the “food” tab as well! The menu is up! For three full days, you will be able to enjoy Theo’s delicious vegan cooking as well as tasty vegan pastries made by baker Joost CONGRESS! Interesting to know: we will use ecologically friendly cocos oil to make our Belgian fries this year! Have a good meal!

As we already announced earlier, Ieper Winterfest will happen again next year! For people already planning on coming to that show on Saturday February 26th we have an “early bird” deal ready for you on Ieperfest 2010! If you buy a Winterfest ticket now, you only pay 10 Euro instead of 14! At the door price will be 18 Euro!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest News Update 29 July 2010

Wooow barely two days have passed since the last update, but we are working so hard over here we already have some more news to share with you!

First of all, we have made some rather important changes to the festival schedule! On Sunday, the festival kicks off on the Marquee stage, not on Main Stage as stated before. Also, there is no break on Sunday afternoon! We had to mak e these changes because the festival has to end before 10pm on Sunday evening so the neighbours can have at least one good night’s sleep before having to go to work on Monday. Click the “Schedule” tab to download the new and improved schedule!

Secondly, we are pleased to announce there will be a third edition of Ieper Winterfest early 2011! The date is set, so take note and make sure you’re present at what will no doubt be a pretty cool show! Ieper Hardcore Fest WINTER Edition 2011 will take place on Saturday February 26th at Zaal Fenix, Ieper! Needless to say we will try our best to make the bill as strong as possible!

Keep an eye out for new updates, as they might follow each other pretty fast!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest News Update 27 July 2010

Hey there!

It’s been a few weeks since we last gave you an insight of what is going on around Ieperfest 2010. With little less than three weeks separating us from the biggest and longest running DIY underground hardcore festival in the world, it was time for a little update!

Let’s start with some band news first. A few days ago, we were informed that CAMPUS sadly has to cancel their Friday appearance at Ieperfest this year! Their place is being taken by BRUTALITY WILL PREVAIL who will consequently be the opener of this year’s Ieperfest. Make sure to arrive early and support this upcoming Welsh hardcore act!

Seems like people don’t wanna miss out on Ieperfest 2010! With Pukkelpop being sold-out for this year, we noticed an immediate increase in the Ieperfest pre-sales. That’s absolutely great!! Tickets have arrived at all independent stores by now, so apart from the online store, all Fnacs and Free Record Shops, you can now also buy tickets at Vort’n Vis Ieper, Popcenter/Metalzone Kortrijk, Piet Gein Roeselare, Fat Kat Antwerpen and JJ Records Leuven! As soon as the Ostensche Ploate/Compact Center Oostende re-opens (on 3 August) you’ll be able to purchase tickets there as well! Several Ieperfest co-operators also have tickets for sale, so you might want to get yours from one of them as well.

We can still use lots of thumbs up in our “battle” to become the greenest event in Flanders, so click this link and give us FIVE THUMBS UP! We will be eternally grateful!

Speaking of green and the environment: you can now read all about our garbage and environment policy on this very website! Simply click the “Garbage” tab to do so! Everything is explained in simple, understandable English and accompanied by clear and informative pictures! Take the time to read it through, it’s worth the while!

For more information about the infamous MTM-stage, just click the “MTM” tab! A definite program and even more specifics will be online soon!

We hope to have more updates online soon! Our cook, the incredible Theo, plans to finish the Ieperfest 2010 menu soonish. We hope to announce it some time before the start of the festival!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest News Update 7 July 2010

Bazinga dear friends!

One week ago we announced the final additions to the Ieperfest 2010 line-up, with the promise to put a time-schedule online as soon as possible! We are glad to announce that this schedule is online NOW! Just click the “schedule” tab at the top of this page, to find the schedule! You can also download it as a user friendly printable PDF!

Please note that this schedule is still subject to some change, should any of the 64 bands cancel their presence at Ieperfest within the next few weeks.

In our previous update we told you that pre-sale tickets would arrive in the independent stores (click the “tickets” tab for more information) by Thursday 8 July. It seems there is some delay to the delivery of these tickets, but most stores should be provided with tickets by Monday 12 July! If you live near any of these stores, picking up a ticket there is the fastest and cheapest way, so it’s worth waiting a few days until tickets have arrived there!

Meanwhile, pre-sale has been running via other channels (Fnac, Free Record Shop, online…) for quite some time now and it is going really well! We are headed for record smashing pre-sale figures, so Ieperfest 2010 is set out to be one hell of a party! Speaking of parties, we can already announce that, just like the last two years, DJ Jooza (Jospin) will be making you want to shake your ass off on Saturday August 14th! Other DJ’s will be announced asap!

As you all know, we always strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible! This year, we are even hoping to become the “greenest” event around, and you can help us by clicking here and giving us five thumbs up! Please keep in mind you can do a lot yourself to help us out on our mission to protect the environment: don’t throw your shit around, bin it! And try to use the Ecover detergents and shampoos we provide for free!

More updates will follow soon, so keep your eyes peeled! Expect more news about the MTM-stage, about food and about tons of other Ieperfest-related matters within the next few weeks!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest news update 1 July 2010

Hey there!

Little over one month ago we gave you the latest news on Ieperfest 2010, promising we’d be back as soon as possible with more news, and here we are!

Just like last month, we are sad to announce that some bands have cancelled their presence at Ieperfest this year, four bands to be exact: The CARRIER, LEWD ACTS, MAXIMUM PENALTY and RAT CITY RIOT. Reasons for these cancellations are beyond our control, going from family matters to band members calling it quits. Nevertheless, we apologize to anybody that was looking forward to seeing any of these bands!

Enough bad news and apologies. We have been working very hard on completing this year’s line-up, and are proud to announce the following final additions to the bill: BORN FROM PAIN (NL), BORN TO LOSE (USA), CATARACT (CH), DEAD SWANS (UK), The FREEZE (USA) and RAISED FIST (SWE). For more information on these bands, and the other 58 bands we already announced earlier, simply click the “bands” tab at the top of this page!

This is it, no more bands will be added to the line-up, unless there are more cancellations over the next few weeks. We will now do our puzzle work to put the bands in just the right slot, and put up a final schedule in the next few days. In the meantime, if you have any questions regarding the line-up per day, feel free to e-mail us: info@ieperfest.com!

Pre-sale tickets for independent stores are being printed as we speak. They should be present at the following spots by 8 July: Vortn Vis Ieper, Popcenter/Metalzone Kortrijk, Piet Gein Roeselare, Ostensche Ploate Oostende, Fat Kat Antwerpen and JJ Records Leuven. We have been offering tickets via Fnac and Free Record Shop for a while already. They are going really fast, so don’t hesitate to pick yours up asap.

In case you are not living close to any of the independent stores, the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to get your tickets is buying them online! You can find prices and all pre-sale options by clicking the “tickets” tab at the top of this page.

We have also updated the “More Than Music” or MTM section on our website, so go and have a look!

We’ll keep you updated regularly as of today, so keep an eye out for more exciting news on Ieperfest 2010!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest news update 28 May 2010

Greetings friends!

It has been approximately one month since you last heard of us, needless to say we have not been sitting on our lazy asses during this period. This means we have quite a lot to tell you, so brace yourself.

Although we always try our best to make good arrangements with bands to prevent cancels that will disappoint our visitors, it is almost impossible to calculate all circumstances that might lead to a band cancelling a tour, or a show. We are sad to announce the following acts have already cancelled their presence: CITY OF SHIPS, THE NOW DENIAL and SLAPSHOT.

But not to worry, because we have a list of nine new bands ready to announce as well! This means only two free spots need to be filled in over the next few weeks! The following have confirmed their presence on 13,14 or 15 August: BLEED FROM WITHIN (UK), CEREBRAL BALLZY (USA), CROSSED THE LINE (BE), FOR THE GLORY (POR), HANG THE BASTARD (UK), NO TURNING BACK (NL), STRENGTH APPROACH (IT), VITAMIN X (NL) and VOIVOD (CAN). Quite a lot of European bands as you can see! Some of them might not be well-known, so have a look at their page in the band section, check out their MySpace, or a YouTube movie! The remaining two spots will be filled in soon, expect two more killer acts, and maybe even some extra headliners!

We will do our best to put a definite schedule per day online asap, but you can still mail to info@ieperfest.com! We will gladly answer any question you might have.

Since May 1st, weekend tickets and one-day tickets have been available in all Fnac Stores, via Fnac.be and the Fnac Hotline (0900/00600) at, according to us, very reasonable prices. Weekend tickets cost 65 Euro, one-day tickets cost 34 Euro (all prices reservation costs excluded). As of today, Ieperfest tickets are also available in all Free Record Shop stores in Belgium, Holland and Luxemburg. The fastest and cheapest way to get your tickets however, is ordering them online via the ticket shop we have set up on our website. Simply click the “tickets” tab at the top of this page! There are several paying options, including credit card and PayPal! More pre-sale points will be announced soon!

That’s about it for now, keep an eye out for more updates, as they will follow soon!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest news update 29 April 2010

Aloha!

Barely one week has passed, and here we are with another update on progress regarding Ieperfest 2010! We have some exciting news and hope you’ll enjoy reading it.

As said in our previous update, we are negotiating our asses off with some of the best bands hardcore has to offer in order to present you the best line-up possible! Today we can announce no less than five new names, four international acts and one Belgian band! Ready? Here goes: AS WE FIGHT (DK), AN EMERALD CITY (NZL), RAFFLESIA (BE), SLAPSHOT (USA) and TRASH TALK (USA). This brings us to a total of 56 bands confirmed already, which means there’s still eight more to come within the next weeks! Excited? Be sure we are!

A detailed schedule per day is in the making, and will be announced as soon as the bill is complete, for practical reasons! People that need to know when certain bands are playing in order to be able to plan days off or to plan their holidays can drop us an e-mail.

Go and have a look at the “bands” section! It has been updated with a special page per band, including a short bio, bandpicture, links to MySpace and websites, and a cool YouTube movie of each band!

Tomorrow (Friday April 30th) is the last day you are able to buy pre-sale weekend tickets at the low price of 60 Euro! These tickets can be bought through all Fnac outlets (stores, hotline (0900/00600) and online). Starting this Saturday, these tickets will cost 65 Euro. More pre-sale points will be announced as soon as possible! We are working on a way to make tickets available in more cities!

One-day-tickets will also be made available as of May 1st, and will cost 34 Euro a piece! Fnac will be the first to sell these, but our other pre-sale vendors will be provided with tickets soon after!

Catering at Ieperfest 2010 will be all vegan again, as usual! Our close friend Theo GSR will be the man behind the furnace again, so expect splendid hot meals on this year’s edition of Ieperfest!

Our garbage-control team is working hard on ways to improve the system that already proved quite effective last year. But we aim for no less than perfection, so “quite effective” is not nearly good enough!

That’s about it for now, but more updates are coming over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST

Ieperfest news update 22 April 2010

Hey there!

Little less than one month ago, we gave you our latest update regarding the summer edition of Ieperfest which is to take place on 13,14 and 15 August! We promised a new update fast, and here we are!

We are still working hard on offering you the best line-up possible this summer, so we are negotiating our asses off with a shitload of high quality acts at the moment! These negotiations have resulted in the confirmation of one new act! We are proud to announce legendary Californian punkers 7 SECONDS will be giving an exclusive 2010 Belgian performance on this year’s Ieperfest! Some more bands are on the verge of confirming their presence, so expect more updates soon!

Let’s talk pre-sale: as already frequently stated before, weekend tickets have been up for pre-sale for quite a while at all Fnac stores at the very democratic price of 60 Euro (excl. reservation costs)! As of Saturday May 1st, these tickets will become slightly more expensive. Weekend tickets will then cost 65 Euro. This means you have one more week to get to a Fnac store near you and buy your Ieperfest weekend ticket! We will also be selling weekend tickets at the Genet Records booth on Groezrock this weekend, at the lowered price of 60 Euro of course!

One-day-tickets will also be made available as of May 1st, and will cost 34 Euro a piece! Fnac will be the first to sell these, but our other pre-sale vendors will be provided with tickets soon after!

That’s about it for now, but more updates are coming over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out!

Best,
Team IEPERFEST
