Saturday 18 February, JOC ‘t Perron Ieper, 1 stage, 10 incredible bands, good vegan food and an interesting MTM room are the main ingredients of the dish we will be serving that day. Last Thursday, we posted the Ieperfest 2012 crossword puzzle on our Facebook page. If you puzzled correctly, you could find 24 bands that will be playing the 20th anniversary edition of Ieperfest on 10, 11 and 12 August 2012. Today, we are announcing no less than 26 (!) acts that will hit the Ieperfest stage this summer:

AGNOSTIC FRONT (US) // The NYHC legends turn 30 in 2012! They decided to celebrate their birthday together with Ieperfest this summer. 2nd IF performance ever.
BALANCE AND COMPOSURE (US) // Emotive hardcore act from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, formed 5 years ago. First Ieperfest performance.
The BLACK DAHLIA MURDER (US) // Death metal kings returning to Ieperfest for the third time. Perfect band to play a birthday party, heartburn!
BOLT THROWER (UK) // One of Europe’s most influential death metal bands of all time. Playing a short run of just 3 fests this summer. Soooo proud Ieperfest is one of them!
CATTLE DECAPITATION (US) // 100% vegetarian metal act from San Diego, California. A large number of their songs protest the mistreatment and consumption of animals, as well as the abuse of the environment. Perfect Ieperfest band!
The CHARIOT (US) // Douglasville, Georgia hardcore act formed in 2003 by ex-NORMA JEAN frontman Josh Scogin. Second time at Ieperfest, first time was in 2006.
COKE BUST (US) // Fastforward straight-edge hardcore band from Washington DC. Formed back in 2006.
CONVERGE (US) // Jacob Bannon and his troops return to Ieperfest for a second performance in three years, with a brand new release under their belt. Flagship of Deathwish Inc.
DEATH BY STEREO (US) // Orange County, California hardcore band formed 16 years ago already. After all these years, the band is still going strong and will prove it at IF summer where they will perform for the very first time.
D.O.A. (CA) // Formed 34 (!) years ago in Vancouver, Canada. D.O.A. are an early and extremely influential punk band.
INCANTATION (US) // One of New York’s flagships when it comes to death metal. They’ve been around for 23 years already, and this is their first ever Ieperfest appearance!
KNUCKLEDUST (UK) // One of the most important bands for London hardcore, with a strong connection to Ieperfest. Glad to have the boys back on stage for our anniversary!
MIDNIGHT SOULS (BE) // One of Belgium’s most promising hardcore acts. Check out their debut album “Going Through the Motions”!
The MONGOLOIDS (US) // Straight-edge hardcore band from Edison, New Jersey. On the road w/AGNOSTIC FRONT.
MUCKY PUP (US) // Legendary party band formed 27 years ago in Bergenfield, New Jersey. After their passage in February, they will be back in Europe this summer. Stoked!
MxPx ALLSTARS (US) // Honored to have these skate/poppunkrock veterans to play the fest for the first time. C'mon, let's go to the punkrockshow!
NAYSAYER (US) // Hardcore for fans of MADBALL and other notable NYHC alumni, hailing from Richmond, Virginia.
OMEGA MASSIF (DE) // Instrumental sludge/post-metal from Würzburg, Germany, for fans of KNUT, AMENRA … We’ve been trying to get these guys for a few years now, so glad they could finally make it!
PIANOS BECOME THE TEETH (US) // Heartfelt post-rock/screamo act hailing from Baltimore, Maryland. Touring Europe in March with TOUCHE AMORE and returning in summer with BALANCE AND COMPOSURE!
PIG DESTROYER (US) // Legendary grindcore band based in Virginia. They rarely leave the States to play shows so we are extremely proud to announce they will play 2 Euro shows this summer, one of them being Ieperfest!
RISE AND FALL (BE) // Kings of Belgian hardcore playing Ieperfest once again, with a brand new full-length called “Faith” under their belt.
STILL X STRONG (BR) // Straight-edge hardcore from São Paulo, Brazil. Ieperfest has always had a thing for South-American hardcore acts, so cool to have one on the 20th edition of the festival as well!
TERROR (US) // Scott Vogel himself insisted on being here to celebrate our anniversary with us! Ieper is still trembling after the TERROR show of 2009, and now they’re back to do even better!
TOXIC HOLOCAUST (US) // Thrash! Second Ieperfest performance, after their set on Ieperfest winter 2008, when they toured with MUNICIPAL WASTE!
TRAPPED UNDER ICE (US) // Hardcore band formed 5 years ago in Baltimore, Maryland. Dark, emotional, brutal. For fans of CROWN OF THORNZ and NEXT STEP UP!
UNEARTH (US) // From Boston Massachusetts, forming the holy trinity of US melodic metalcore together with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and AS I LAY DYING. Soooo proud they are finally playing Ieperfest!

We are already extremely excited about the line-up so far, and with 38 bands still to be announced, things can and will only get better! People that want to see the 20th anniversary edition artwork as one of the first will need to come to Ieperfest winter edition 2012, where we will be distributing the first posters and flyers!

Hey there! As this is our first update of 2012, we would like to wish you all a happy new year. 2012 promises to be an exciting year for Ieperfest, as we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary in August. Although it’s still early in the year, we can already say this will be a party to be remembered for a looooooong time!

But first, let us focus on the fourth edition of Ieper Hardcore Winterfest. The flyers and posters have been spread a while ago already, and now our website also had a facelift! The Ieperfest 2011 killer whales have been replaced by the Ieper Hardcore Winterfest 2012 wolf, the Winterfest schedule is online and you can find extra information on all the bands performing on Saturday 18 February in the “bands” section.

Spaces are limited in the new venue, and ticket sales are going well, so don’t hesitate to pick up your ticket! The fastest, easiest and cheapest way to get a ticket is buying it online: www.ieperfest.com or www.facebook.com/ieperfest . You can also go to your nearest Fnac or Free Record Shop.

Meanwhile, we are working hard on finalizing the first list of bands that will be announced to play the 20th anniversary edition of Ieperfest on 10, 11 and 12 August 2012. A few weeks ago, we announced the first bands that would be performing at Ieperfest winter edition 2012. Today, we are pleased to announce 3 more but unfortunately also 2 cancellations.

PIANOS BECOME THE TEETH decided to postpone their February tour. This also means that their support act GOODTIME BOYS won’t be playing. We hope to have both bands on our stage someday in the future though!

New to the bill are:

DOOM (UK) // Legendary punk/hardcore/crust act formed way back in 1987. Originating in Birmingham, England, they were pivotal for the rise of crust and punk. After several splits (due to reasons of all nature) and just as many reformations, DOOM is now back as strong as ever before. We are glad to welcome these legends on our Winterfest

NO TURNING BACK (NL) // In this day and age where hardcore bands come and go with the speed of light NO TURNING BACK are holding true to what they originally set out to do and they’re not planning on giving up, ever. Those who remember their set on last year’s Ieperfest won’t want to miss out on this!

xVICIOUSx (BE) // Representing Belgium on the 2012 Winterfest will be young and upcoming straight-edge West-Flemish beatdown pounders xVICIOUSx. They earned their spot on the bill by being energetic, working hard and playing shitloads of shows over the past year. It’s time to get VICIOUS!

Ticket prices are the same as they have always been for Winterfest: pre-sale tickets cost 14 Euro and can be bought online (www.ieperfest.com or www.facebook.com/ieperfest) or in your local Free Record Shop or Fnac! Space is a little more limited at the new venue, so get your ticket before it’s too late!

Aloha dear friends! In our last update we promised to announce the first bunch of bands for our upcoming Ieperfest winter edition really soon. Today, we are ready to release the first 9 acts that will be performing on Saturday 18 February upon you.

DEAFHEAVEN (US) // A dizzying hybrid of shoegaze shimmer, hardcore punk passion, emo vulnerability and black metal intensity. Based in San Francisco, signed to Deathwish Inc., influenced by bands like MORBID ANGEL, The SMITHS, GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR, ORCHID and MY BLOODY VALENTINE.

GOODTIME BOYS (UK) // Hailing from Cardiff, Wales, GOODTIME BOYS set out on a European tour with newest US sensation PIANOS BECOME THE TEETH. Heartfelt, emotional sludge/screamo influenced hardcore for fans of TOUCHE AMORE, NO OMEGA…

HIEROPHANT (IT) // HIEROPHANT is a ferocious crust/punk metal band based in the north of Italy. They played over 100 shows since their late 2009 debut. Their 2010 self-titled release on Demons Run Amok rcs features a guest appearance by Dwid Hellion of INTEGRITY. On tour with DEAFHEAVEN.

INTEGRITY (US) // Legendary Clevo hardcore act that has been around since 1988 already, long before some of you were even born. No introduction needed. Go hard or go home!

xKINGDOMx (US) // Philadelphia’s hardest yet most loveable vegan straight-edge hardcore act is back in Ieper after their memorable performance on Ieperfest 2009. Welcome back!

PIANOS BECOME THE TEETH (US) // Post-rock/screamo influenced hardcore act from Baltimore, Maryland. They claim influences as varied as THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, CONVERGE, THURSDAY, SUIS LA LUNE and many more. Fact is that they are gaining popularity as we speak, and we are pleased to have them! Signed to Topshelf rcs.

ROT IN HELL (UK) // Hard as nails UK hardcore act with a hint of Belgian hardcore history, as they were recently joined by Hans Verbeke of LIAR fame on vocals. Signed to Deathwish Inc., on tour with INTEGRITY.

VANNA (US) // Yet another high quality act hailing from the city of Boston, Massachusetts! VANNA only recently visited Europe as opener on the Never Say Die tour, attracting large numbers all over! For fans of FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS, ARCHITECTS, PARKWAY DRIVE etc.

WRONG ANSWER (US) // Philadelphia based hardcore act, playing music somewhat reminiscent of “System Overload” era INTEGRITY. On tour with xKINGDOMx.

We are very happy with the bill we have put together this year, and hope all of you will be excited about it as well! A few more acts still need to be confirmed within the next few days and weeks. Winterfest pre-sale will start as soon as possible.
